The Rocks Upcoming WCW Docuseries May Avoid Uncomfortable Truths About Companys Demise

WWE and WCW engaged in a heated rivalry back in the day, as the Monday Night Wars are still spoken about with a sense of nostalgia. It appears that fans will have a chance to re-live that time through an upcoming documentary series.

Deadline reported on Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions appointing Scott Landsman, former senior Sony TV comedy executive, as the Head of Television. Melissa Fried from Verve has also joined as the VP of Film Development & Production. It was mentioned that Seven Bucks Productions is working on a documentary series about the decline of WCW.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the upcoming WCW docuseries may include some bias, especially if they call Eric Bischoff to tell his side of the story.

“The Rock wasn’t watching it, no, but he was aware of it. It was such crap, those last couple of years. It was giving people what they didn’t want, and it was like a classic example of doing that.”

“I don’t know how you can do a series. The thing is that I presume they’ll have Eric Bischoff all over it, and once you have Bischoff all over it, you’re just gonna have the total full of sh*t story. It was all those people out to get us as opposed to ‘you f*cked up and drove your fan base away.’ It’s not just him. I don’t wanna say it was just him. He was part of that deal, you know they lost $63 million at the time when, you know Turner Broadcasting wasn’t into losing money.”

It was further noted that, although streaming services today may be losing more than $63 million, Turner didn’t want to lose that money at all in the early 2000s. That caused a huge issue, but it’s anyone’s guess what they will cover in the upcoming docuseries.

We will have more on this story, and so much more in the pro wrestling world, here at Ringside News. You never know what will break next, but we will be here with all the headlines.
