Wilson’s long-standing passion for singing led her to record her debut solo album, AM/FM, which was released on the Decca Records label on May 8, 2012. The CD included favourites from the 1960s and 1970s, including a cover of “Wichita Lineman” with the song’s writer-composer Jimmy Webb. She also sang “All I Have To Do Is Dream” with former Soundgarden and Audioslave guitarist Chris Cornell. Faith Hill, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, and Patti Scialfa contribute harmonies to the album (who also produced the track “Come See About Me” with Ron Aniello).

On December 4, 2014, she sang for President Obama and Michelle Obama at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington, DC, and acted as the event’s co-host.

Wilson began creating her own songs in 2016, with the support of Grammy-nominated co-writer Kara Dioguardi. “Grateful” (later featured on Rita Wilson’s self-titled album) was the first song she created and sang alongside Dioguardi and Jason Reeves. Previously, Wilson collaborated with Matt Nathanson on the song “Bad Things” for the Scott Eastwood film Dawn Patrol, in which she also starred.

Rita Wilson (born Margarita Ibrahimoff on October 26, 1956) is an actress, singer, and producer from the United States.
